INTERNATIONAL BOX OFFICE through May 19

Updated International Box Office numbers below.  Iron Man 3 moved up $72 million overseas in the past week, reaching over $700 million overseas to date.  If Iron Man 3 ends with, let’s say, $820 million overseas, the latest Marvel film will end with $1.24 billion: near The Avengers ($1.512 billion worldwide) and blowing past Iron Man ($585 million worldwide) and Iron Man 2 ($624 million worldwide).

Star Trek Into Darkness was the second-best American film overseas this week, up $49 million to $81 million to date overseas.  We’ll give it an ultimate $200 million overseas, placing Into Darkness at around $420 million worldwide (a touch better than Star Trek‘s $386 million worldwide, which was $258 million domestic and $128 million overseas).

In its second week of release, The Great Gatsby moved up $37 million this past week overseas to $42 million to date.  The film should be able to get to $300 million worldwide.
