NETWORK UPDATE:  SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL adjusted to 7.0, down 1.4 from last week’s game.  Once the football adjustments were made at CBS, 60 MINUTES was up 0.4 to 3.6, MADAM SECRETARY was up 0.1 to 1.4, and CSI: CYBER, which didn’t begin airing on the east coast until 10:57PM, was at 1.0.

CABLE HIGHLIGHTS:  It’s hard to know exactly what to make of the premiere rating for INTO THE BADLANDS, because no other show on TV this fall has had the benefit of the massive lead-in it got from THE WALKING DEAD (up 0.32 from last week to 6.51).  BADLANDS was at 3.15, which is virtually identical to the launches of SUPERGIRL (which had a 4.4 lead-in from THE BIG BANG THEORY) and BLINDSPOT (a 3.5 lead-in from THE VOICE).  So it was considerably below the retention of either of those shows, despite its gaudy number.  Another comp is BETTER CALL SAUL, which premiered at 3.43 after an even huger 7.98 WALKING DEAD lead-in, but SAUL will be on a different trajectory, since after its premiere it moved to Mondays.  Also to be noted:  BADLANDS fell to 2.58 by its last quarter-hour, down from 3.93 in its first.  It all adds up to an OK but not particularly impressive debut considering what it had to work with, although if it maintains this level of rating over its 6 week run, a renewal would be virtually certain.  TALKING DEAD, which aired at 10:55PM because of the BADLANDS premiere, plunged 0.88 to 1.58 without its WALKING DEAD lead-in, and COMIC BOOK MEN didn’t air.

Elsewhere, THE ROYALS made a much lower-key return to E!.  It followed the 1.27 premiere of KEEPING UP WITH THE KARDASHIANS with 0.41 (down to 0.35 by the last quarter-hour), below its 0.53 score for last season’s finale.  On TNT, THE LIBRARIANS dropped 0.08 to 0.45, and AGENT X was at 0.19, a fairly paltry number but just 0.01 below the 2d hour of last week’s premiere.  Bravo’s REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA was up 0.05 to 1.43.  TLC’s SISTER WIVES jumped 0.14 to 0.69, and 90 DAY FIANCE was up 0.07 to 0.49.  On Adult Swim, ROBOT CHICKEN rose 0.07 to 0.65, and MIKE TYSON MYSTERIES held at 0.53.  Hallmark’s original movie A BRIDE FOR CHRISTMAS was at 0.58.  Spike’s BAR RESCUE gained 0.09 to 0.52.  Food Network’s HOLIDAY BAKING CHAMPION slipped 0.04 to 0.47, CUTTHROAT KITCHEN downticked to 0.40, and GUY’S GROCERY GAMES fell a tenth to 0.37. 

Showtime’s HOMELAND once again led the pay networks, although it was down 0.02 to 0.40, and THE AFFAIR fell 0.09 to 0.20.  On HBO, THE LEFTOVERS dropped 0.05 to 0.28, GETTING ON lost 0.04 to 0.06/240K, and LAST WEEK TONIGHT dwindled by a tenth to 0.30.  On Starz, FLESH AND BONE was down 0.02 to 0.04/147K.
