NETWORK UPDATE:  BIG BROTHER had an extra 0.1 in final numbers, and so did the reruns of BOOM and DATES.  The BONES rerun, however, lost 0.1.

CABLE HIGHLIGHTS:  The appeal of presidential politics mixed with something like reality TV was irresistible last night, and the REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE on FOX News hit a massive 5.27 rating, the kind of number that’s usually associated with football, zombies or EMPIRE.  (In the Men 50+ demo, FOX News’s home base, the number was an even more colossal 15.59.)  The debate was so huge that lead-out THE KELLY FILE was the 2d-highest show of the night at 2.13, lead-in O’REILLY FACTOR was #4 at 0.94, a midnight episode of HANNITY was #6 at 0.82, the late-afternoon also-rans debate for those candidates who weren’t in the Top 10 in the polls was #7 at 0.77, and a between-debates SPECIAL REPORT WITH BRET BAIER was #9 at 0.63.  Amidst all that Republicanism, perhaps fittingly, Comedy Central’s series finale of THE DAILY SHOW was a lone bastion of the left, the 3rd-highest rated show of the night at 1.43.  (The DAILY SHOW excitement did nothing to help REVIEW, down 0.02 to 0.13.)

There was some apolitical programming last night, and it was led by TEEN MOM (MTV), up a hundredth to 0.82, and with lead-out ONE BAD CHOICE down 0.03 to 0.26.  On Syfy, WWE gained 0.06 to 0.68, DOMINION dropped 0.06 to 0.27, GEEKS WHO DRINK lost 0.05 to 0.11, and REACTOR fell 0.03 to 0.05 (with 229K total viewers).  History’s MOUNTAIN MEN dropped 0.08 to 0.53, and ALONE was down 0.11 to 0.50.  On We, BRAXTON FAMILY VALUES climbed 0.06 to 0.52, and LA HAIR dipped by 0.02 to 0.34.  PROJECT RUNWAY returned to Lifetime at 0.47, after a ROAD TO THE RUNWAY special at 0.34.  A&E’s BEYOND SCARED STRAIGHT rose 0.06 to 0.44, and BEHIND BARS: FIRST YEAR was at 0.42.  IMPRACTICAL JOKERS fell 0.02 to 0.41.  LIP SYNC BATTLE (Spike) took a 0.14 hit to 0.39.  On FX, SEX&DRUGS&ROCK&ROLL gained 0.02 to 0.31, and MARRIED ticked down to 0.19.  At USA, COMPLICATIONS lost 0.02 to 0.28, and GRACELAND fell out of the Top 40, down 0.06 to 0.21.  RECTIFY (Sundance) was up 0.01 in 18-49s (to 0.04), but down by 64K total viewers (to 113K).  COMEDY BANG BANG (IFC) dropped 0.1 to 0.1, with 37K total viewers.  BIG BROTHER AFTER DARK (POP) was at 0.04/119K.
