NETWORK FINALS:  The WINTER OLYMPICS Closing Ceremony got a big 0.6 bump in final numbers, while the preceding OLYMPIC GOLD special lost 0.3 and the AP BIO preview gained the same.  In addition, due to a NASCAR overrun, only a few minutes of the BROOKLYN NINE-NINE rerun ran across the country.

CABLE HIGHLIGHTS:  Glass half-empty or half-full?  The midseason premiere of AMC’s THE WALKING DEAD was at 3.6, which was down 1.39 from last fall, but up 0.28 from midseason 2017.  (For the more historically minded, a midseason premiere also aired against the Closing Ceremony of the 2014 Winter Olympics, when it scored 6.6.)  WALKING DEAD isn’t the mega-buster it used to be, but any other network would still eat the flesh of the living to have it.  TALKING DEAD returned at 1.47, and COMIC BOOK MEN was at 0.19.  (Note:  the “WALKING DEAD BONUS” special was just a re-broadcast of the fall finale with some extra footage.)

The rest of scripted was led by Adult Swim’s ROBOT CHICKEN, up 0.02 to 0.55, with the return of MR PICKLES at 0.35/0.31, and SUPERMANSION down 0.06 to 0.23.  On HBO, LAST WEEK TONIGHT edged up 0.02 to 0.32, CRASHING rose 0.06 to 0.16, DIVORCE was up 0.02 to 0.14, and HERE AND NOW also increased by 0.02 to 0.11.  On Showtime, HOMELAND ticked down to 0.28, and THE CHI impressively matched it, up 0.04 to 0.28, while OUR CARTOON PRESIDENT ticked down to 0.08.  Hallmark’s WHEN CALLS THE HEART lost 0.03 to 0.20.  Starz’s COUNTERPART ticked up to 0.11, and the season premiere of ASH VS EVIL DEAD was at 0.10, down 0.11 from the 2016 season premiere, and down 0.04 from the finale.

Bravo’s REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA topped unscripted cable, up 0.06 to 0.21, and TO ROME FOR LOVE was steady at 0.28.  ESPN’s NBA game was at 0.50.  On E!, KEEPING UP WITH THE KARDASHIANS dipped 0.03 to 0.45, and REVENGE BODY was up 0.03 to 0.25.  Food Network’s WORST COOKS IN AMERICA jumped 0.09 to 0.44, and GUY’S GROCERY GAMES was up 0.04 to 0.33.  ID’s EVIL LIVES HERE rose 0.09 to 0.38, ON THE CASE was up 0.04 to 0.35, and LOVE & HATE CRIME premiered at 0.26.  HGTV’s line-up was led by ISLAND LIFE at 0.38/0.34, compared to last week’s 0.27/0.25.  On TLC, SISTER WIVES slipped 0.02 to 0.34, and SEEKING SISTER WIFE was up 0.02 to 0.30.
