SHOWBUZZDAILY’s Top 25 Friday Cable Originals (& Network Update): 10.17.2014

NETWORK UPDATE:  Apart from 0.1 drops for the reruns of MARRY ME and GOTHAM, there were no changes to Friday’s preliminary ratings.

Ratings in key demos for the Top 25 original cable telecasts (plus a few other lower-rated but noteworthy programs):

Friday night cable belonged to Discovery’s GOLD RUSH, with a dominating 1.18.  In addition, a GOLD RUSH: THE DIRT special that preceded the show was strong at 0.54.  Otherwise, the night was led by the usual suspects.  Syfy’s WWE broadcast was down 0.08 to 0.70, and Z NATION, airing afterward, gained 0.13 to 0.54 (perhaps aided by the return of THE WALKING DEAD putting zombies back in the zeitgeist).  Lead-in HAVEN grew by half a tenth to 0.26.  ESPN’s COLLEGE FOOTBALL game was up the same 0.05 to 0.52.  GIRL MEETS WORLD (Disney) dropped 0.06 to 0.47.  The 2 episodes of KENDRA ON TOP (We) were up 0.02-0.04 to twin 0.41s.  REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER (HBO) was at 0.34.  The season finale of THE KNICK (Cinemax) stayed at 0.09 in 18-49s, but grew by almost 100K older fans, rising to 413K in total viewers.
