SKEDBALL: March Madness TV Ratings through Second Thursday

Updated ratings for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament through the second Thursday of March Madness (the first night of the Regional Semifinals). Two games have been added to the CBS averages, and two games have been added to the TBS average. CBS is now averaging over 6.0 million viewers 2+ for the tournament to date this year, up +7% from last year and the best number in years.  TBS is now averaging over 2.3 million viewers 2+, now in line with recent years.  The entire tournament (all 56 games to date) are running +11% ahead of last year and +6% above the 2012-2016 average, challenging the recent high in 2015.

In the sports sales demographic of men 18-49, the 2017 tournament to date is +6% above last year but -7% below the 2012-2016 average.

Game detail for the the second Thursday of March Madness in 2016 and 2017 (the first night of the Regional Semifinals).  The early games last night (at 7:00 pm ET on CBS and 7:26 pm ET on TBS) are well above the corresponding games last year, while the late games last night (9:27 pm ET on CBS and 10:33 pm ET on TBS) were a touch below last year’s games.
