Saturday remains one tough neighborhood. NBC aired Game 5 of the NHL Stanley Cup Final (Chicago skated to a 3-1 victory over the Boston Bruins, bringing their series lead to 3 games to 2). The game scored a preliminary 1.8 rating with adults 18-49 last night from 8-11 pm, which we are generously estimating will rise to a 2.0 rating in the official nationals (when the western time zones are properly counted for this live telecast).  A 2.0 would be pretty good for anything on Saturday night in most cases, but it has to be disappointing for NBC and NHL after the series recently hit a 2.4 on Wednesday night.

Nonetheless, the series will definitely get back on track Monday with Game 6.  There will be plenty more people in front of televisions on a Monday versus a Saturday, and Game 6 is now a possible elimination game, which always adds to ratings potential.
