CBS’s second half of the Sunday NFL doubleheader did a terrific 17.0 HH rating in the metered markets (mostly Pittsburgh at Dallas between 4:30 and almost 8:00 pm).

NBC’s Sunday Night Football at 8:30 pm averaged a 15.2 HH rating in the 56 metered markets (San Francisco at New England, briefly interrupted by President Obama’s remarks from Newtown, CT).

FOX’s single game did a very competitive 13.8 HH rating (mostly NY Giants at Atlanta and Green Bay at Chicago at 1:00 pm).

Bringing up the rear was the early afternoon 1:00 pm game on CBS (mostly Denver at Baltimore, along with two other regional games), which averaged an 11.1 HH rating against the stiff early afternoon competition on FOX.

Local Market Ratings

Milwaukee (Green Bay) and Pittsburgh each approached the 50 HH rating level for local coverage of their team’s game (48.5 and 47.5 rating, respectively).

New Orleans and Boston (New England) exceeded the 35 rating threshold (37.6 and 36.6 rating).

A number of other markets fell in the 30-35 range: Denver (33.7), Minneapolis (32.6), Indianapolis (32.4), Chicago (31.5), Baltimore (31.5), Dallas (31.4), Seattle (30.6) and Kansas City (30.0) .

San Diego once again visits the hall of shame.  The Chargers home game against Carolina did not sell out and was blacked out in America’s Finest City.

SATURDAY SPORTS.  Pretty slim pickings for sports viewers Saturday.  The BEST rating for each network is listed below.  Two completely meaningless college bowl games on ESPN were the top-rated sports telecasts for the day, each at a lowly 1.9 HH rating.
