Game 2 of the 2016 World Series on Wednesday October 26 averaged 17,395,000 persons 2+ live+same day and a 4.8 P18-49 rating, down from Game 1’s 19,368,000 P2+ and 5.6 P18-49 rating. On average, Game 2 declines about -2% from Game 1, but Game 2 last night dropped more than -10% from Game 1 Tuesday, certainly impacted by an unusual start time (7:08 pm ET / 4:08 pm PT, an hour earlier than normal). MLB and FOX moved up the start time because of inclement weather passing through the Great Lakes region, and the game ended without any delays at 11:15 pm ET just as the cold rain became heavy. The rating probably would have been higher initially if the game started at 8 pm, but a rain delay or suspension of play would have been worse for the audience and the players, particularly the pitchers. So even with the decline last night, Games 1 and 2 together are still putting 2016 on pace to be the #2 World Series since 2006 with total viewers 2+ and the #3 Series the with 18-49 sales demographics.
