>Big time professional sports dominate the top of this week’s cable ratings chart.  The NFL Draft turned in an excellent 3.3 rating with Adults 18-49 and nearly 7 million viewers 2+.  The Draft finished in third place in the 8:00 half hour on Thursday (behind only Big Bang Theory on CBS with a 4.1 rating and American Idol on FOX with a 4.0).  It moved to second place from 8:30-9:00, then tied Grey Anatomy on ABC for first place from 9-10 pm, and finally was the #1 program on any network — broadcast or cable — from 10-11 pm.   Click “read more” to see the updated weekly cable chart.

Next, early round NBA playoff action on TNT Monday averaged a 2.0 rating for the 7:09 pm game between the Knicks and the Miami Heat and a very good 2.4 rating for the 9:47 pm game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Oklahoma City Thunder.  The early game is essentially in a fourth-place tie with FOX  (behind CBS, NBC and ABC).  However, the late game is an impressive second place among all networks at 10 pm — just behind first place Hawaii Five-O on CBS (2.5 official national), slightly ahead of ABC’s Castle (down to a 2.3 in the official nationals) and well ahead of NBC’s Smash (1.8 official national rating).
