Despite the fact that star/co-creator Danny McBride had talked about the 2012 season of EASTBOUND & DOWN as being (voluntarily) its last, and the season’s conclusion seeming to end the show’s story in a fairly satisfying way… like its antihero Kenny Powers, it’s ready for a comeback.  Vulture reports that a new 8-episode season has been ordered.  The show did fairly well for HBO, with numbers in the 0.6-0.9 area (as good or better than the recently renewed Veep and Girls), and the uncharitable might also note that McBride’s feature film career, recently marked by Your Highness and 30 Minutes Or Less, may not be quite robust enough to justify walking away from a successful TV series.

Eastbound & Down will come back swinging in 2013.
