The NBA FINALS, while the overwhelming winner of the night, took a step backwards.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis follows the chart.
ABC: The preliminary 4.7 for Game 4 of the NBA FINALS was down half a point from the early number for Game 3, and down a sharp 1.6 from the preliminary rating for 2015’s Game 4 (which aired on a Thursday). ABC is rooting for a Cleveland win on Monday to make the series longer and more competitive.
FOX: A pair of COPA AMERICA matches, at 0.4 for Chile vs. Bolivia and 0.5 for Argentina vs. Panama, fared no better than the English-language telecasts on Fox Sports 1 have been doing–and below the Spanish-language Univision coverage.
CW: A new MASTERS OF ILLUSION was up 0.1 to 0.4, tying a lead-out rerun, with 0.3 for a PENN & TELLER: FOOL US rerun.
NBC: After 0.9 for a AMERICA’S GOT TALENT rerun, DATELINE dropped 0.1 to 1.0.
CBS: Reruns at 0.5-0.6.
For once, there’s a piece of Saturday network scheduling that’s worth noting. ABC will follow the premiere of reality series PEOPLE’S LIST with the first episode of the acclaimed documentary miniseries O.J.: MADE IN AMERICA. The series will then move to ESPN, with the remaining episodes resuming on Tuesday and running throughout the week. (On Tuesday, the entire show will also be available for streaming on ESPN’s digital services.)
