People missed MACGYVER.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis follows the chart.
CBS: Despite terrible reviews (including here), MACGYVER had a terrific start, the highest rated show of the night at 1.7 (and up from 1.6 to 1.7 through the hour). That pushed the season premiere of HAWAII 5-0 to 1.3, up 0.3 from the 2015 premiere. BLUE BLOODS was steady with last fall’s 1.3 premiere.
FOX: After a 1.1 lead-in from the HELL’S KITCHEN season premiere, the debut of THE EXORCIST was middling at 1.0 (down to 0.9 in the 2d half-hour). That’s a sustainable number for Fridays, but it doesn’t have far to slip before it would potentially be in trouble.
ABC: The season premiere of LAST MAN STANDING stayed at last fall’s 1.1, followed by the season premiere of DR KEN, which was down half a point from last year’s premiere to 0.9. It was an even worse night for SHARK TANK, which was down 0.6 from its 2015 premiere to 1.1. 20/20 was also low at 0.7.
NBC: After 0.6/0.6 reruns of its Thursday sitcoms, DATELINE aired a 2-hour 1.0 installment.
CW: MASTERS OF ILLUSION held last week’s 0.3, and was followed by a pair of 0.3 reruns.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL occupies ABC and FOX tonight. On Sunday, ABC and FOX debut their fall line-ups, which include the season premiere of SECRETS & LIES on ABC, and the official premiere of SON OF ZORN on FOX.
