Preliminary numbers from last night’s season finale have HOMELAND setting a new series record with 2.4M total viewers for its initial airing (an additional 500K tuned in for the re-broadcast later in the evening). Whatever the qualms have been over this season’s creative direction, its viewership has been very solid.
MASTERS OF SEX has been running at 50% of Homeland‘s numbers through most of the season, and that was the case as well last night with 1.2M total viewers. That’s not a huge number, but it’s up 20% from the series premiere, a sign of strong word of mouth, and it’s a comfortable success by Showtime standards–as well as a major win in terms of critical acclaim.
Both shows have been renewed, but airdates for their return haven’t yet been announced.
