HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER will continue parsing out its precious nuggets of mother-related information for one more season. CBS very badly wanted the show back, especially with 2 Broke Girls not proving to be the Monday blockbuster the network had hoped, and deals have been made with 20th Century Fox Television (which owns the series), creator/showrunner Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, and the entire cast to come back for a final 9th season. This will doubtless lead to some more running in place for the show, which now has at least 22 additional half-hours to fill, but at least we know the conclusion is in sight. And as long as it doesn’t turn out that the characters have been dead all along and waiting to head together toward a white light…
