AFTERNOON UPDATE: As expected, THE GREAT CHRISTMAS LIGHT was hit hard after Chicago’s football coverage was removed, falling 0.4 to 1.4 in final numbers. (The CASTLE rerun at 10PM fell too, to 1.0.) SLEEPY HOLLOW avoided setting a new low–although it did tie its old one–gaining 0.1 to 2.2, and THE VOICE also climbed 0.1 to 3.5.
MONDAY CABLE: The 18-49 numbers for Part 2 of BONNIE & CLYDE followed suit with the total viewer numbers, with an aggregated 2.0 among History (0.7), Lifetime (0.7) and A&E (0.6). Decent enough ratings, but hardly a major event. The night, of course, was dominated by MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL (ESPN), which was up 0.3 from last week to 5.7. VH1 was the other strong network of the night, with 1.6 for LOVE & HIP-HOP, 1.2 for CHRISSY & MR. JONES, and 1.1 for BLACK INK CREW. In addition, Discovery scored a 1.5 with 1.5 for FAST AND LOUD, while MAJOR CRIMES was at 0.7 for TNT.
The Voice did what The Voice does: provide a great lead-in for a debut.
NBC: THE SING-OFF returned for the first time in 2 1/2 years, and its premiere was up half a point from that 2011 airing to 2.4–but this time it had a 3.4 lead-in from THE VOICE (even with last week) to help it out.
FOX: ALMOST HUMAN, facing atypical competition on ABC and CBS, was up 0.1 to 1.8. But it can’t be good news that SLEEPY HOLLOW, following a rerun last week, returned with a new low 2.1, down 0.1 from its last new episode. (It’s preempted next week for holiday specials.)
ABC: The network’s Chicago station aired the NFL game, which apart from featuring the home team, had the retirement of Mike Ditka’s number at halftime, so numbers may be shuffled this afternoon. At the moment, SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN is at 1.7, and the series premiere of THE GREAT CHRISTMAS LIGHT FIGHT is at 1.8.
CBS: Only MIKE & MOLLY (down 0.4 from last week, when it was surrounded by new episodes, to 2.0) and HOSTAGES (steady at 1.1) were new last night. The reruns were highlighted by 1.3s for HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER and MOM.
CW: KUNG FU PANDA HOLIDAY SPECIAL and MERRY MADAGASCAR were both at 0.4, but then a One Direction edition of the IHEARTRADIO ALBUM RELEASE special only hit 0.2.
NBC and ABC have new episodes of regular programming tonight, while CBS follows fresh NCIS hours with its annual VICTORIA’S SECRET FASHION SHOW special, FOX airs the AMERICAN COUNTRY AWARDS, and CW reruns more IHeartRadio specials.
