Demo Profile 2015 MON.21 Sep

NBC:  It was the Peacock’s night, no doubt about it, but the good news had some blemishes.  THE VOICE started the night at 3.5, down 0.6 from the Fall 2014 premiere, and since that show tends to peak in its early weeks, it suggests that by mid-fall, its numbers could be very mortal.  The network could hardly have asked for more from BLINDSPOT, though, which held about 80% of its 9-10PM lead-in for a 3.1 start.  That’s 0.4 below last fall’s season premiere of THE BLACKLIST, but BLACKLIST had a bigger lead-in from THE VOICE.  BLINDSPOT also held well through the hour, declining from 3.2 to 2.9 at 10:30PM.  It decimated the competition, and now the question will be whether viewers will stick with it.

CBS:  THE BIG BANG THEORY was the biggest show of the night, but it’s eroding as well, down a full point from last fall’s premiere to 4.5.  LIFE IN PIECES was only able to hold onto 60% of its lead-in at 2.7.  That’s higher than last year’s season premiere of THE MILLERS (which was in October), but the numbers are uncomfortably similar, as that week’s BIG BANG was at 4.4 and MILLERS followed at 2.2.  SCORPION was down 30% from last fall’s series premiere to 2.2, and NCIS: LA began the season with a new series low 1.2, down from last September’s 1.9.

FOX:  GOTHAM had an ugly season premiere, down more than 50% from last year’s debut at 1.6, and that didn’t make things easier for MINORITY REPORT, which is already on the chopping block after a 1.1 premiere.

ABC:  NOTE–ABC fast nationals inflated by MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL in Indianapolis.  Currently, DANCING WITH THE STARS is down half a point from last week (but just 0.2 from last year’s parallel Monday) to 1.8.  CASTLE fell heavily to 1.2, a new low and down a full point from last fall’s premiere.

CW:  NOTE–The CW inflated by MNF in New York.  Currently, PENN & TELLER: FOOL US is down 0.1 from last week to 0.4, and SIGNIFICANT MOTHER is up 0.1 to 0.3, with a 0.4 rerun of WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY in between.

Tonight’s premieres include SCREAM QUEENS on FOX, LIMITLESS on CBS and the rebooted THE MUPPETS on ABC, along with plenty of season premieres.

COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
