The Sked: Monday Ratings

NBC won another Monday night last night with adults 18-49 according to the fast national ratings, but it was the worst Monday rating of the season by a mile (a 3.3 rating from 8-11 pm compared to a 4.1 Monday night average the first eight weeks).   CBS finished in second with a 2.6 rating (a touch above the 2.47 Monday average so far this season).  ABC (2.2 rating) and FOX (1.5 rating) each matched their Monday average.

ESPN’s Monday Night Football (Chicago Bears at San Francisco 49ers) had a slight impact on the CBS fast nationals.  In San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose (market #6, 2.19% of the US), the game was carried over the air on CBS’s KPIX 5.  The game and post game show ended around 9 pm PT, meaning the first hour of CBS prime is inflated somewhat in the fast nationals.  In Chicago (market #3, 3.05% of the US), the game ran on independent WCIU 26 and had no impact on any network’s fast national ratings.

The Voice, NBC’s golden goose, plunged below a 4 rating last night for the first time this year.  If the rating goes up to a 3.8 in the official nationals (a safe bet), last night’s episode will be 12% below the previous Monday low this season.  According to listings, the Top 10 finalists performed live last night — the episode was not a clip show.  Not a good sign as the competition heads into the final stages.  However, Revolution stopped the bleeding at 10 pm, holding steady with last week at a 2.6 rating.

CBS from 8-9 pm could come down about one-tenth of a rating point because the end of the Monday Night Football game aired on the CBS station in the Bay Area.  The rest of the night looks to at level last seen in mid-October.
