Without football or special events, Sunday is a very different place.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
ABC: A generally dismal night hit bottom with the premiere of THE FAMILY, which wasn’t helped at all by its Thursday preview and debuted at 0.8, putting it at instant risk of being yanked from the air. The returnees weren’t all that much happier: after a 0.7 rerun of the fall finale, ONCE UPON A TIME’s midseason premiere tied the original run of that episode at 1.3 and also tied the series low, and QUANTICO came back at 1.1, down 0.1 from its own fall finale.
FOX: BORDERTOWN is currently listed at 1.5, but that’s actually a NASCAR afternoon overrun and will be adjusted in final numbers. BOB’S BURGERS was steady at 1.1 from its last original episode 2 weeks ago, THE SIMPSONS was down 0.1 to 1.3, COOPER BARRETT’S GUIDE TO LIFE stayed at 0.8, FAMILY GUY held at 1.3, and THE LAST MAN ON EARTH returned at 1.1, down 0.2 from its fall finale.
CBS: 60 MINUTES gained 0.2 from 2 weeks ago to 1.3, and MADAM SECRETARY remained at 1.2, but THE GOOD WIFE and CSI: CYBER were each down 0.1, respectively to 0.9/0.8.
NBC: A rerun of THE VOICE at 1.1 led into the night’s highest rated show, 1.4 for an OJ Simpson-themed DATELINE.
CBS is in rerun mode tonight, while the other networks air their regular line-ups. On cable, A&E follows the season premiere of BATES MOTEL with another horror movie spin-off, a spawn of THE OMEN entitled DAMIEN.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.

Sunday preliminary broadcast ratings: 60 Minutes and the CBS 7:00-7:30 half hour specifically inflated by 10 minutes of the end of Masters coverage from 7:00-7:10 pm (mostly the monumentally awkward and amazingly tense ceremony in “Butler Cabin,” where the Green Jacket is awarded).
