Last Sunday’s excuse for low ratings was Easter; last night’s will preaumably be the WALKING DEAD season finale.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
CBS: The ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS collapsed by 1.3 from last year to 2.3, still enough to make it the highest-rated show on network TV for the night. It may have been hurt not just by WALKING DEAD but by the cable broadcast of the IHEARTRADIO MUSIC AWARDS, but that’s nevertheless a major drop. The night started with 60 MINUTES up 0.2 to 1.1.
ABC: After AMERICA’S FUNNIEST HOME VIDEOS climbed 0.2 to 1.0 from last week’s rerun, the whole line-up was up 0.1: ONCE UPON A TIME to 1.1, THE FAMILY to 0.7 and QUANTICO to 1.0.
NBC: LITTLE BIG SHOTS slipped 0.1 to 1.8 (airing after a 0.8 rerun), then THE CARMICHAEL SHOW and CROWDED remained at 1.0/0.8. DATELINE wound up the night at 0.8.
FOX: The adjusted line-up made its debut, with 0.4s for BORDERTOWN and COOPER BARRETT’S GUIDE TO LIFE in the 7PM hour as those shows wait for seemingly inevitable cancellation. Airing for the first time since mid-March, THE SIMPSONS dropped 0.3 to 1.0, then two episodes of BOB’S BURGERS were at 1.0/0.9 (compared to 1.0 at 7:30PM 3 weeks ago), and THE LAST MAN ON EARTH fell 0.2 to 0.9.
With the NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP GAME airing in various forms on TBS, TNT and Tru, only NBC and ABC are daring fresh programming tonight.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
