Season finales continue not to thrill.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
ABC: The 2-hour season finale of ONCE UPON A TIME was up 0.1 from last week to 1.2, but that was with help from the afternoon NBA game that led into the 7PM hour, and even so it was down a heavy 0.6 from last year’s finale. THE FAMILY ended its run up 0.1 to 0.8, and QUANTICO was also up 0.1, but its 1.0 was down almost by half from last fall’s premiere.
FOX: The season finale of THE LAST MAN ON EARTH was steady with last week at 0.9, but fell half a point from last May’s finale. Earlier, BORDERTOWN held at 0.4, and after a 0.7 rerun of THE SIMPSONS, a new SIMPSONS (which featured a live bit) gained 0.1 to 1.2. BOB’S BURGERS and FAMILY GUY were both stable at 1.0/1.3.
NBC: The 7PM DATELINE rose 0.2 from last week to 0.7, and was followed by a 0.9 LITTLE BIG SHOTS rerun. The newly-renewed CARMICHAEL SHOW edged up 0.1 to 0.8, and the just-canceled CROWDED stayed at 0.7. Another hour of DATELINE at 10PM lost 0.1 to 0.9.
CBS: 2 hours of 60 MINUTES were at 1.0, the same as last week’s hour. An episode of UNDERCOVER BOSS followed at 0.9, and then a 0.6 NCIS rerun.
There are series finales for MIKE & MOLLY and CASTLE tonight, and season finales for JANE THE VIRGIN and A&E’s BATES MOTEL.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
