The Sked: THURSDAY July 4 Ratings Chart

Thursday ratings.  The broadcast networks totaled a 3.4 rating with adults 18-49 last night, almost exactly the 3.3 rating from Independence Day 2012 (on a Wednesday night).  NBC won the little-viewed night and was up 13% from July 4 last year.  Although Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular was higher rated last year (1.8 rating from 9-10 pm), NBC benefited from extending the special to two hours this year (1.5 rating from 8-10 pm) and eliminating the very low-rated repeat comedies at 8 pm.  The Macy’s repeat at 10 pm did better this year than last, as it was the only fireworks programming available on the networks.  CBS this year decided to drop the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular after a long run.
