The ratings for the night’s dueling TOWN HALLS didn’t necessarily go as expected.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary live+same day key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
ABC: The preliminary rating for the network’s BIDEN TOWN HALL was 2.7, giving it the win on a broadcast-to-broadcast basis. In addition, note that it was broadcast live to all time zones, so the preliminary network rating does not include live viewing on the West Coast from 5-7PM PT. That viewing will be added to the official nationals for the program, available later this afternoon. A rerun EMERGENCY CALL ended the night at 0.6.
BS: BIG BROTHER dropped 0.1 to 0.9. After reruns of THE NEIGHBORHOOD at 0.3/0.3, STAR TREK: DISCOVERY was up 0.1 to 0.3.
NBC: The preliminary rating for the TRUMP TOWN HALL was 1.7, and unlike at ABC, NBC’s broadcast was aired in a normal pattern (delayed on the West Coast until 8PM PT, at least in Los Angeles on KNBC). Therefore NBC numbers should be close to the official nationals later this afternoon. However, also unlike ABC, NBC’s Town Hall was simulcast on cable at MSNBC and CNBC, so the total rating will rise with the addition of the other networks this afternoon. CONNECTING was at 0.5/0.2 compared to last week’s 0.3, and DATELINE was steady at 0.4.
FOX: Game 4 of the National League MLB PLAYOFFS had a preliminary 0.7.
CW: SUPERNATURAL lost 0.1 to 0.3, and THE OUTPOST held at 0.1.
Tonight, ABC has the season premiere of SHARK TANK.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 live+same day ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
