THE SKED THURSDAY NETWORK SCORECARD – 12/6/12

Scandal shows some heat.

ABC:  A dynamite episode of SCANDAL (written by creator Shonda Rhimes) that managed to propel the story both backwards and forwards via flashbacks and a startling episode-ending revelation had by far its best-rated episode of the season, up 0.3 from last week to 2.5 and notching a 10PM win.  This was particularly impressive because in the previous hour, GREY’S ANATOMY tied its own season low at 3.0.  At 8PM, LAST RESORT was up 0.2 to a still-terrible (and meaningless, now that the show is canceled) 1.2.

NBC:  The post-wedding episode of 30 ROCK tied its all-time low 1.1.  UP ALL NIGHT held even at 1.2, then THE OFFICE rose from last week’s all-time low by 0.2 to reach 2.1.  PARKS AND RECREATION rounded out the sitcom block slightly up at 1.5.  ROCK CENTER was also barely up at 1.0.

CBS:  BIG BANG THEORY was slightly down to a mighty 5.5, and 2 1/2 MEN rose 0.2 to 4.2.  PERSON OF INTEREST beat ABC (up 0.3) at 9PM with 3.2, and ELEMENTARY was up a bit to 2.3.

FOX:  THE X FACTOR was back down to 2.4, off 0.3 from last week.  GLEE, continuing its horrifying take on bulimia amid the showtunes, was down slightly to 2.1.

CW:  THE VAMPIRE DIARIES fell to 1.1, slumping 0.3.  BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, despite its back order, is looking like an endangered species with a mere 0.5.

Tonight mostly features new episodes of regular series, apart from an SNL clip show special on NBC.  On cable, Sundance Channel will premiere its miniseries RESTLESS, with a classy cast that includes Hayley Atwell, Michele Dockery and Charlotte Rampling.
