NOTE: We won’t have Thursday cable ratings until next week, but it’s a good bet that NFL Network’s THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL will dominate the eventual Christmas Eve ratings. Meanwhile, the San Diego at Oakland game likely had very little impact on the broadcast fast nationals. With two west coast teams involved, any local broadcast pre-emptions occurred mostly before prime time.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
CBS: As with the other networks, Christmas Eve was a night of reruns, led by CBS’s eternal gift THE BIG BANG THEORY at 1.1.
NBC: IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE was at 0.8.
ABC: A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS led the reruns at 1.0.
FOX: TV’S FUNNIEST ANIMATED STARS reran at 0.4.
CW: There were nothing but 0.2s under CW’s tree.
NBC puts some late coal in everyone stocking tonight by burning off the last 2 episodes of TRUTH BE TOLD, while CBS has another colorized sitcom classic on hand, this time THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
This feature will return after the holidays.
