There wasn’t much dawn for the age of AQUARIUS.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
NBC: After a 1.2 hour of DATELINE (steady with last year’s airing of HOLLYWOOD GAME NIGHT in that summer slot), AQUARIUS debuted with a weak 1.0 over its 2 hours. Even worse, the show declined from 1.3 in its first half-hour to 0.9 in the last, suggesting that viewers weren’t gripped by what they were watching. Next week’s numbers will bear particular attention, because of NBC’s decision to post the remainder of the season online and on VOD (a fact the network didn’t promote during last night’s broadcast) for binge-watching purposes.
FOX: BONES started the night by perking up 0.2 to 1.2, and then WAYWARD PINES shrugged off the arrival of AQUARIUS, holding last week’s 1.2.
ABC: The finale of 500 QUESTIONS gained 0.1 to 1.1 for its 2-hours, rising to 1.2 in the final half-hour. It was followed by a 0.6 JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE primetime rerun.
CBS: Reruns, topped by 1.4 for THE BIG BANG THEORY–which beat all the original programming on the other networks.
CW: Reruns at 0.3/0.2.
It’s a night of reruns on the networks. On cable, HBO airs the one-man (David Oyelowo) film NIGHTINGALE.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
