The arrival of NFL Football swamped everything else on the night.
NBC: The opening game of NFL FOOTBALL, currently a 9.0 preliminary adult 18-49 rating from 8:30-11 pm, should go up to around a 10.6 official rating when the west coast viewing is processed properly, which would pass last year’s opening game. The game itself was preceded by NFL KICK-OFF at 5.7 and NFL PRE-KICK at 8.8.
CBS: Despite the arrival of football, BIG BROTHER rose 0.2 to 2.2. THE BIG BANG THEORY topped the night’s reruns, of course, at 1.8.
ABC: THE QUEST remained pathetic at 0.3, half the rating of the SHARK TANK rerun that followed it.
FOX: Reruns at 0.5/0.5.
CW: Reruns at 0.2/0.2.
All the networks except CW will air the STAND UP TO CANCER special tonight, which will run without commercials and therefore not receive a final Nielsen rating. The rest of the evening is the usual summer Friday mix of reruns and newsmagazines.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL
The chart above goes beyond the adult 18-49 rating, adding other key advertiser sales demographics (adult 18-34 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares), and total viewership (ages 2 or more expressed in thousands of people).
