The NBA ruled the airwaves again last night, with a preliminary 5.8 Adult 18-49 rating. This will probably go up to over a 7 rating in the official nationals when the west coast viewing is properly factored in, putting Game 2 on track to beat Game 1’s 6.9 rating. UPDATE: Game 2 came in at a 7.1 rating in the official nationals and 16.7 million viewers over the age of 2. ABC should be thrilled with the ratings for the first two games of the NBA Finals, but it should be ecstatic about the prospects for the rest of the series. Miami held off a late surge by OKC, sending the series back home to Miami all tied up. Visions of a Game 7 with a 10+ rating for a decisive final game are dancing in the heads of ABC brass.
CBS is currently in second place with a 1.5 rating for repeats of its regular Thursday schedule.
FOX is in third with a 1.3 rating. Week two of Take Me Out stands at a 1.1 rating (down from last week’s 1.3 premiere). The Choice is a 1.5 rating (down from the 1.8 premiere last week).
NBC brings up the rear with a 1.0. Week two of Saving Hope is holding steady at a 0.7, while Rock Center is up a tenth from last week to a 0.8.
More detail to come in the Network Scorecard later this morning.
