The Sked: TUESDAY RATINGS April 24

>Another close battle for first place Tuesday night between FOX and NBC.  Last week NBC beat FOX by one tenth of a rating point.  This week, FOX is ahead by one tenth on Tuesday night in the fast nationals, but adjustments to the official nationals could turn it into a tie.  ABC got some good news at 10 pm with a stronger second week for Private Practice on its new night.  On The CW, 90210 did a fairly typical 0.6 rating at 8 pm, while L.A. Complex debuted to a weak 0.3 rating at 9 pm, underperforming Ringer.

NBC’s Tuesday night was fairly close to last week, with Biggest Loser and The Voice Results down a tenth in the fast nationals and Fashion Star up one tenth.  However, in the official nationals, The Voice Results will probably go up to a 3.3 and Fashion Star will probably go down to a 1.5 (both ultimately matching last week’s rating).  In any case, NBC Tuesday is either a close second place behind FOX for the night or tied for first.  Last year on this night The Voice made its Tuesday debut: Biggest Loser (2.6) from 8-9 pm and The Voice (5.1) from 9-11 pm.

NBC Tues      High Low  3.20 3.27 4.03 4.10 4.17 4.24

Fashion Star  1.6  1.5  1.8  1.5  1.5  1.8  1.5  1.6*
Parenthood    2.2  1.6

Glee bounced back to a 2.7 rating last night, recovering from last week’s atypically low episode.  New Girl is currently a 2.6 rating, but that very likely will rise to a 2.7 in the official nationals to match last week’s rating.  A repeat New Girl aired at 9:30 and scored a 1.5 rating, similar to a low-end original Raising Hope episode.  Last year on this night, FOX aired Glee (3.4) from 8:00-9:30 pm followed by Raising Hope (1.8).

FOX Tues     High Low  3.20 3.27 4.03 4.10 4.17 4.24

Breaking In  1.7  1.3  1.3  1.4  1.3

ABC’s 8-10 pm schedule was fairly similar to last week’s results, but at 10 pm Private Practice has a good second week in its new time period, up 29% (half a rating point) from last week and matching the season high for Body of Proof in the hour.  The network competition was similar this week at 10 pm (a repeat Unforgettable on CBS and an original Fashion Star on NBC) so it seems it just took a little time for fans of the medical soap to get used to the schedule change.  The same night last year:  Dancing with the Stars Recap (2.5), Dancing with the Stars Results (3.6) and Body of Proof (2.2).

CBS brought up the rear Tuesday with a 1.7 rating from 8-11 pm for an all-repeat schedule.  The network will be back in the game next week with an original NCIS and the conclusion of the heavily-promoted two-night Hawaii Five-O/ NCIS: Los Angeles crossover event.  Last year on CBS on this night:  NCIS repeat (2.0), NCIS Los Angeles repeat (2.0) and The Mentalist repeat (1.5).
