>CBS tied for first place with an okay 2.9 rating for the night.  NCIS and NCIS Los Angeles returned with originals, matching the ratings for the last pair of originals on November 22 (a season low for each).  Unforgettable set a new season low last night for an original.  More important, the night is down substantially from the same evening last year (Tuesday, December 14, 2010):  NCIS (4.9), NCIS Los Angeles (4.0) and Good Wife (2.8).

FOX aired original episodes for the third Tuesday in a row.  Although FOX Tuesday tied CBS for second place with a 2.9 rating, the shows have also been trending down generally.  Glee sunk below a 3 rating for the first time (pending updates in the official nationals later today), while New Girl set a new season low (though it is still enough to win the half hour).  Raising Hope turned in a fairly typical and sub-standard 2.3 rating at 9:30.  Last year on this night, a pair of Glee repeats scored a 2.2 at 8 pm and a 2.3 at 9 pm.

NBC finished in third place with a fairly competitive 2.2 rating.  The night began sluggishly with yet another Royal special, William & Kate: Inside the Royal Marriage and a 1.2 rating.  But The Biggest Loser finale scored a 2.7 from 9-11 pm (a 2.5 from 9-10 pm and a 2.9 from 10-11 pm).  A 2.7 is a pretty good number for NBC this fall, but it pales in comparison to last December’s finale for Loser (a 4.3 rating from 9-11 pm on 12.14.2010).  The night began last year with a 2.4 rating from Minute to Win It.  No word yet if Minute to Win It, like Fear Factor, will be going back into production.

ABC brought up the rear Tuesday night with a weak 1.5 rating.  Last Man Standing continues to fade, down to a 2.2 rating for an original (followed by a repeat Last Man at 8:30 with a 2.0 rating).  Repeats of The Middle (1.5) and Suburgatory (1.3) struggled in the 9 pm hour, and the night ended very quietly with a 1.1 rating for a repeat Body of Proof.  Last year on this night, ABC had an even worse performance with a very eclectic schedule: Charlie Brown special (1.7), No Ordinary Family (1.0) and Detroit 187 (0.8).
