THE SKED WEDNESDAY NETWORK SCORECARD – 7/4/12

The bombs burst in midair for NBC on July 4th.

NBC:  There are fireworks, and then there is the MACY’S 4TH OF JULY SPECTACULAR, by far the highest rated show of the night with a 1.7 (although that was down from 2.1 last year).  The 2d highest?  A rerun of the same show the next hour, which added another 1.4 and pulverized CBS’s fresh Boston fireworks in the slot.  Even a rerun of OFF THEIR ROCKERS at 8PM won that half-hour, albeit with a 1.0, while an UP ALL NIGHT rerun tied for the 8:30PM lead at 0.6.

CBS:  Whatever may happen in sports, when it comes to fireworks, Boston can’t compete with NY, as the BOSTON POPS FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR managed only a 0.8, losing to the Macy’s rerun at 10PM.  The rest of the night was made up of 0.6-0.7 reruns.

ABC:  Reruns, headed by 0.9 for MODERN FAMILY.  A new episode of FINAL WITNESS went bust against the fireworks at 0.7.

FOX:  4 NEW GIRL reruns scored identical 0.6 ratings.

CW:  Twin 0.2s for a pair of AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL reruns.

Tonight the networks return to regular summer programming, which means new shows on ABC, FOX and (except for 8-9PM) NBC, and reruns on CBS.  The most interesting numbers will be on FX, where ANGER MANAGEMENT and BRAND X WITH RUSSELL BRAND will have their sophomore airings.
