SHOWBUZZDAILY WEDNESDAY NETWORK SCORECARD – 8.26.2020

Night 3 of the REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION was up slightly from Tuesday’s preliminary numbers at 0.3/0.3/0.3, but a bit below last week’s parallel night for the Democrats (0.3/0.3/0.4).  The disparity was more pronounced in aggregate 2+ ratings for the 3 networks, where last night was at 4.9M (down 500K from Tuesday) and the Democratic Night 3 was at 5.8M (down 300K from the previous night).  All numbers, of course, remained significantly below 2016.  See Mitch Metcalf’s post this afternoon for more detail on the broadcast and cable Convention ratings.

DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary live+same day key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).

Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.

ABC:  Fittingly, the season finale of UNITED WE FALL, which has been a model of consistency, was steady at 0.5.  Reruns at 0.4/0.3/0.2 led into the Republican Convention coverage at 0.3.

CBS:  BIG BROTHER (1.1) and TOUGH AS NAILS (0.5) were both up 0.1, and Convention coverage was at 0.3.

NBC:  AMERICA’S GOT TALENT held at 0.6, followed by a rerun ELLEN’S GAME OF GAMES at 0.4.  Convention coverage was at 0.3.

FOX:  Reruns at 0.3/0.4.

CW:  The special WOMEN IN FILM PRESENTS was at 0.1, and CORONER was steady at 0.1.

The REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION concludes tonight.

COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 live+same day ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.

Note: The fast affiliate-based ratings below measure what aired on network affiliates in 210 U.S. markets from 8-11 pm Eastern & Pacific or 7-10 pm Central & Mountain. The numbers are some combination of the network schedule and any pre-emptions (such as local news or weather coverage). Accurate program ratings will be available this afternoon with the broadcast finals.

CABLE RATINGS: Come back this afternoon for detailed demographic ratings for top Wednesday cable programs and broadcast finals.
