Viewers took refuge in pre-Debate family comfort food.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
ABC: The year’s run of IT’S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN was up 0.2 from 2015 (when it ran on a Tuesday) to 2.2, and TOY STORY OF TERROR was up 0.4 to 2.0. The network’s share of the PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE rating was 2.8 (as with the other debates, Nielsen won’t count it in final numbers because it ran without commercials), and the post-Debate ANALYSIS was 2.2.
FOX: Airing for the first time without its EMPIRE lead-out, LETHAL WEAPON held up quite well, down just 0.2 to 1.7. FOX’s DEBATE rating was 2.0.
NBC: BLINDSPOT gained 0.2 to 1.3. The DEBATE scored 2.8, with ANALYSIS at 2.2.
CBS: SURVIVOR shed 0.1 to 1.9. The DEBATE contributed 2.2, with ANALYSIS at 1.7.
CW: ARROW dropped 0.1 to 0.6, and FREQUENCY, with literally no entertainment competition on any other broadcast network, rose 0.1 to 0.4.
Tonight’s big event is FOX’s (taped, not live) remake of THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
