It was another dim night for most of network TV.
FOX: AMERICAN IDOL tied its Wednesday series low 2.9 for the third week in a row. That was down 2 full ratings points from last year’s parallel night. Last night, instead of a 2d hour of Idol, an episode of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE ran at 9PM and had a 2.3, boosted from Tuesday by its lead-in but still in 3rd place for the hour.
ABC: THE MIDDLE edged up 0.1 to 1.9, while the now-canceled FAMILY TOOLS stayed at 1.2. Similarly, MODERN FAMILY rose 0.2 to 3.5, and then the canceled HOW TO LIVE WITH YOUR PARENTS was mired at 2.0. Some good news for NASHVILLE, though, as it neared its season finale with a nice 0.3 bump to 1.9.
CBS: After 1.0/1.1 for a pair of 2 BROKE GIRLS reruns, CRIMINAL MINDS stayed even at 2.5. The CSI season finale took a 0.2 dip to 2.0, still narrowly winning the hour.
NBC: DATELINE led off the night with a 1.3, same as last week. SVU followed with a somewhat puzzling 0.4 plunge (since, if anything, the FOX competition was weaker this week) to 1.5, and then CHICAGO FIRE held even at 1.8.
CW: Season finales of ARROW and SUPERNATURAL didn’t draw more than the usual fans, as Arrow held at 0.9 and Supernatural slipped 0.1 to 0.9.
If tonight’s line-up doesn’t excite viewers, nothing will. The last Thursday of the season is the mother of all finale nights, with the 10:00-10:07PM period featuring the season/series ends of AMERICAN IDOL, THE OFFICE, SCANDAL and ELEMENTARY all airing against each other. Also closing their doors for the season: THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, GREY’S ANATOMY, THE BIG BANG THEORY and BEAUTY & THE BEAST.
