FRINGE continues to live far from the ratings center.
FOX: THE FINDER and FRINGE had matching 0.9 ratings, respectively setting and matching series lows. Finder is just running out the string, while it’s becoming increasingly difficult to see how FOX can keep Fringe alive, even at a bargain license fee, when it’s running 25-30% below even last season’s low numbers.
NBC: Helped out by atypical competition on CBS, GRIMM perked up to a timeslot-winning 1.6. That didn’t help DATELINE, though, which at 1.1 was soundly beaten by ABC in the newsmagazine hour. WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE was a 0.9 repeat.
ABC: SHARK TANK and PRIMETIME were in 2d place 8-10PM, then PRIMETIME took the lead with a 1.6 at 10PM.
CBS: An Academy of Country Music Lionel Richie special didn’t do as well as the network’s scripted programming, although it managed 2d place in both its hours with 1.4. That was down from the timeslot-winning UNDERCOVER BOSS and its 1.7 at 8PM.
CW: Repeats of NIKITA and SUPERNATURAL at 0.3/0.4.
Tonight ABC does something genuinely unusual for a Saturday: it’s airing the first 3 hours of an original TITANIC miniseries (a licensed British production), with the final hour to air tomorrow night. FOX has NASCAR (it recently announced that it will soon devote the majority of its Saturdays to sports programming), CBS has repeats, and NBC continues to burn off ESCAPE ROUTES and THE FIRM, leading in to a Josh Brolin-hosted SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. Sunday night brings the last scripted premiere of the network season: CBS’s cop show NYC 22. The real event, though, is HBO’s premiere of GIRLS, the Lena Dunham/Judd Apatow comedy that’s been getting superb reviews (look for our take tomorrow night).
