THE SKED’S SUNDAY NETWORK SCORECARD – 1/20/13

Tangle with football at your peril.

ABC:  For reasons best known to itself, ABC decided to do battle with the AFC Championship Game on CBS.  The results were, not surprisingly, bad:  ONCE UPON A TIME and REVENGE both hit season lows of 2.4 and 1.7, down 0.4 and 0.3 from last week.  A 10PM SHARK TANK rerun did a 1.3.

CBS:  In preliminary numbers, the AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME had a giant 14.6 rating (in its perfect world, CBS would have preferred New England to make it into the Super Bowl, but in the absence of that, the network, along with every other media outlet in the world, will make as much hay out of the “brother vs. brother coaches!” angle as possible).  After that, a 3.4 for a special HAWAII 5-0, while far bigger than its usual Monday rating, didn’t hold onto much of its lead-in.

FOX:  Animation reruns highlighted by 1.8 for THE SIMPSONS.

NBC:  Reruns of THE BIGGEST LOSER at 0.7/1.0.

FOX will be holding its breath tonight for the premiere of THE FOLLOWING, its big drama bet of the season.  All the other networks have new episodes, and CW will hope that all its runs of the pilot for THE CARRIE DIARIES did something to build an audience for the show’s second episode.
