NBC has added 3 more series to its 2013-14 dance card, whether for fall or midseason we don’t yet know.
CHICAGO PD is a spin-off of Chicago Fire, and it’s a remarkable sign of where network TV is right now that a series with a 1.8 season average is getting a spin-off. On the other hand, if Dick Wolf knows about anything, it’s establishing franchises. As the title implies, the show is about the police side of Chicago’s emergency responders–and if Wolf knows about anything else, it’s TV cops.
IRONSIDE is a reboot of the Raymond Burr classic, this time with Blair Underwood in the wheelchair. Based on the network description, there doesn’t seem to be a major revamp here, just a straight procedural. The series was created by Michael Caleo, who’s written for The Sopranos and Rescue Me, but hasn’t created a series until now.
UNDATEABLE: Whitney may be gone, but Chris D’Elia will remain on NBC in a new sitcom, as a Lothario trying to teach a group of losers how to find women. It comes from Bill Lawrence’s production company, with first-time creator Adam Sztykiel as the writer.
