NBC’s one slightly surprising choice for the fall schedule was DRACULA, not because it doesn’t fit with its Grimm lead-in, but just that its straight-to-series order had been somewhat under the radar in the bustle of pilot season. NBC’s trailer provides our first glimpse.
“Teaser” may be a better word for the piece, since it saves its money shot of the Count with dripping fangs for the very end. The show looks very much like a pay-cable historical potboiler a la Da Vinci’s Demons or The Borgias–minus the nudity, of course–well-produced (but for a bit of less-than-optimal green-screen) and a little dramatically starchy. It’s hard to tell how much of this is going to be costume drama and how much will be horror thriller, and viewers could be forgiven for suffering from some vampire overload by now, but Dracula is NBC’s only fall show that’s at least a little intriguing.
