So much for superpowers.
ABC: AGENTS OF SHIELD took one of the ugliest Week 2 dives in recent memory, plummeting a horrific 1.6 from last week’s premiere to a very mortal 3.1 rating. That pulled the rug out from under the rest of the network’s night, as THE GOLDBERGS dropped 0.9 to 2.2, TROPHY WIFE plunged by 0.9 as well to 1.4, and LUCKY 7 gave up the ghost entirely, falling half a point to a cable-level 0.8. The network will no doubt spin a tale of DVR and online viewings making this all less awful than it looks, but make no mistake–it was a dreadful night for the network–and next week could be worse.
NBC: With ABC’s collapse, it was an easy win for the Peacock. THE VOICE was down only 0.3 from last week to 4.4, and CHICAGO FIRE was actually up 0.1 to 2.8 (although if the episode started at 10:01 PM or later as Blacklist did on Monday, that increase may be walked back this afternoon). Fire had a commanding 0.7 lead over the closest competition at 10PM.
CBS: NCIS aired a “very special” episode last night in which cast regular Cote de Pablo departed, and that may have helped cushion the show’s Week 2 drop to a gentle 0.2, down to 3.4. NCIS LA was down 0.3 to 2.7. PERSON OF INTEREST slipped 0.2 to 2.1.
FOX: The network’s sit-coms mostly kept falling. DADS was down 0.2 to 1.3, BROOKLYN NINE-NINE down 0.4 to 1.4, NEW GIRL down 0.2 to 1.9 and THE MINDY PROJECT managed to stay even at 1.5 (slightly ahead of Trophy Wife).
CW: IHEARTRADIO FESTIVAL PART 2 rose a marginal 0.1 from Monday’s 0.3.
ABC, which must be reeling this morning, has another important night tonight, as SUPER FUN NIGHT makes its debut in the post MODERN FAMILY slot at 9:30PM. Also premiering: NBC’s IRONSIDE at 10PM. On cable, FX airs the season finale of THE BRIDGE.

THE SKED NETWORK SCORECARD – 12/24/13
On Christmas Eve, all the gifts under the broadcast networks’ tree were used. ABC: The original animated HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS, followed by the sad Jim Carrey/Ron Howard live-action version, scored 1.2/1.3 to take the night, although both were down from last year when–preceded by NBA Basketball–they were…
