SHOWBUZZDAILY SUNDAY NETWORK SCORECARD – 12.21.2014

The holiday doldrums have set in.

DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).

Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.

Demo Profile 2014 SUN 21 Dec

ABC:  A “singalong” version of the yearly run of THE SOUND OF MUSIC was down 0.1 from last year’s edition at 1.2–but that was still 4x the number NBC pulled with a rerun of its SOUND OF MUSIC LIVE on Saturday.

CBS:  A football overrun pushed the network schedule by 50 minutes, so all the numbers are likely to change when final ratings are released tomorrow morning.  (CSI aired out of primetime in most of the country.)  For the moment, 60 MINUTES is at 1.9, UNDERCOVER BOSS is at 1.4, and THE MENTALIST is at 1.3.

NBC:  SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL’s preliminary rating is 5.2, down a huge 2.5 from last week’s early number.

FOX:  Right now, the ratings indicate that MULANEY was the night’s highest-rated show on FOX, with a 1.2 rating at 7PM, but in fact that’s another football overrun–MULANEY didn’t even air in most of the country.  The rest of the night was reruns, led by 1.1s for THE SIMPSONS, FAMILY GUY and BOB’S BURGERS.

The good news for STATE OF AFFAIRS tonight is that it airs against reruns on CBS and ABC.  The bad is that for the first time it doesn’t have a lead-in from THE VOICE, with an SNL Christmas clip show airing at 8PM instead.  The only other new programming on the networks tonight are ABC’s finale of THE GREAT CHRISTMAS LIGHT FIGHT and a fresh MIKE & MOLLY on CBS.  On cable, FX has successfully survived all 100 episodes of ANGER MANAGEMENT, the last of which air tonight.

COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
