Mixed news for the Sunday ABC line-up.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
ABC: After a 0.7 clip show, ONCE UPON A TIME returned at 1.8, just over half of last fall’s 3.5 FROZEN-driven premiere. BLOOD & OIL didn’t stir up much at 1.4, but QUANTICO showed signs of life with a 1.9 debut.
FOX: Comparisons to the 1st Sunday of the Fall 2014 season don’t really make sense, because those numbers were inflated by the huge SIMPSONS/FAMILY GUY crossover episode. Comparing last night instead to the 2d Sunday of last fall, BOB’S BURGERS had a 1.3 season premiere (down 0.1), THE SIMPSONS was at 1.5 (down half a point), BROOKLYN NINE-NINE was at 1.5 (down 0.1), and FAMILY GUY was at 1.5 (down 0.4). The season premiere of THE LAST MAN ON EARTH was at 1.4, down a full point from last spring’s premiere, but in line with where the show settled during its run.
CBS: After a 2-hour 60 MINUTES that was probably inflated by late football at 2.9, the 2-hour series finale of CSI scored 1.8, considerably better than the low 1s the show had been getting during its final full season.
NBC: The preliminary rating for SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL is 7.3, compared to last week’s 8.5.
The only premiere tonight is on cable, but it’s a big one: Comedy Central will cross its fingers and hope that THE DAILY SHOW WITH TREVOR NOAH can fit into Jon Stewart’s shoes.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.

Sunday preliminary broadcast ratings: 60 Minutes and the CBS 7:00-7:30 half hour specifically inflated by 10 minutes of the end of Masters coverage from 7:00-7:10 pm (mostly the monumentally awkward and amazingly tense ceremony in “Butler Cabin,” where the Green Jacket is awarded).
