INTERNATIONAL BOX OFFICE NUMBERS through May 6

Marvel’s The Avengers (distributed by Disney) has jumped to $441.5 million to date overseas (up from $178.4 million last week, when it opened ahead of Friday’s North American debut).  United Kingdom ($25.7 million so far) and Australia ($20.2 million) lead the international charge so far, although there are also impressive results from Mexico ($17.4 million), South Korea ($13.2 million) and Brazil ($10.8 million).   Japan and China come later and will push The Avengers well into the worldwide billion dollar club, with a very high position waiting for it in the chart below.

The Hunger Games is starting to slow down internationally, moving up to $237 million overseas (up from $229 million last week).  The film is probably headed for a worldwide total of $655 million, including our newly revised forecast of $405 million domestic and an estimated overseas total of $250 million.  

Titanic 3D also is starting to slow internationally, now at $276 million overseas to date for the re-release (up from $261 million overseas last week).

The Pirates! Band of Misfits inched up to $70 million overseas (from $63.6 million last week).
