SHOWBUZZDAILY’s Top 25 Saturday Cable Originals (& Network Update): 12.20.2014

NETWORK UPDATE:  CBS’s SATURDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL increased to 3.9 in final numbers.

Ratings in key demos for the Top 25 original cable telecasts (plus a few other lower-rated but noteworthy programs):

As weird as it looks, NFL Network coded its Saturday afternoon NFL game for Nielsen purposes as “Thursday Night Football” (probably because that’s usually the network’s only game of the week), so that’s the way it appears in the chart below, but that is in fact the rating for the Washington/Philadelphia game, which was the top-rated show of Saturday’s cable.  Sports took up 7 of the day’s top 8 slots, with a quartet of COLLEGE BOWL GAMES on ESPN at 0.65/0.48/0.34/0.28, and NBC Sports Network’s PREMIER LEAGUE SOCCER at 0.34.  The sports streak was broken up by TLC’s SEX SENT ME TO THE ER, which aired 2 episodes at 0.30/0.28 (down from last week’s 0.36 for a single episode).  SYFY’s movie of the week was at 0.26.  THE TRANSPORTER (TNT) lost 0.06 to 0.20.  THE MISSING (Starz), for all its rave reviews, continues to be an extremely specialized item, drawing just 0.007 (down by more than half from last week) in the 18-49 demo and 136K total viewers.  Notwithstanding those terribly low ratings, the acclaim makes it valuable for Starz, which has ordered a 2d season.
