SHOWBUZZDAILY’s Top 25 Sunday Cable Originals (& Network Update): 4.5.2015

NETWORK UPDATE:  The premiere of AMERICAN ODYSSEY lost 0.1 in final ratings, bringing it to an even more unpromising 1.1.  60 MINUTES gained 0.1.

Ratings in key demos for the Top 25 original cable telecasts (plus a few other lower-rated but noteworthy programs):

The launch of the final episodes of AMC’s MAD MEN put it at almost exactly the same place as the 2014 premiere, down one-hundredth to 0.80.  Lifetime’s IF THERE BE THORNS movie was at 0.62, and the series premiere of LIZZIE BORDEN CHRONICLES was at 0.38.  The season finale of Showtime’s SHAMELESS gained a tenth to 0.71, but the “sneak” of the network’s new HAPPYISH (not on the chart) held very little of that viewership at 0.15 and with 430K total viewers.  The season premiere of WGNAmerica’s SALEM was at 0.22, a far cry from the 0.51 for last year’s series premiere.  HBO’s SINATRA: ALL OR NOTHING AT ALL 2-night documentary premiered at 0.20, considerably below last week’s Scientology documentary GOING CLEAR with its 0.65 rating, and it was followed by LAST WEEK TONIGHT (with its extended Edward Snowden interview) returning from a week off at 0.32.  With all that new activity, it was the inaugural game of the season’s MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL that topped Sunday cable on ESPN2, with a 1.18 rating.  It barely edged out Bravo’s REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA, down 0.07 to 1.17.  Bravo followed that with BLOOD, SWEAT & HEELS, down 0.12 to 0.46, and FASHION QUEENS, up 0.07 to 0.34.  KEEPING UP WITH THE KARDASHIANS (E!) was down 0.05 to 0.94, but THE ROYALS recovered nicely from last week’s dip, up 0.18 to 0.51.  Adult Swim’s CHINA IL was at 0.77.  On Spike, BAR RESCUE was up 0.03 to 0.46.  BET’s BLACK GIRLS ROCK! special was at 0.43.
