Now through the Second Round of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament on Sunday, CBS and TBS are up marginally versus the prior three years in total viewers 2+ and adults 18-49, while TNT and TRUtv are down significantly. Across all four television partners, the March Madness ratings through Sunday are down a fairly reasonable -4% with total viewers.
But men 18-49 and men 18-34 remain down mostly in double-digit percentages from the last three years.
On Thursday of this week, we will be able to add the afternoon games on CBS from last Thursday-Sunday. When the 2016 CBS afternoon games are available, we will also add the similar games for the prior years to create the most relevant comparisons.
CBS got very good numbers for the Saturday 5:08 pm dream match-up between Indiana and Kentucky, and the rest of the top 5 for 2016 will look more impressive then the 2 pm games from Saturday and Sunday are loaded in, traditionally some of the best-rated games of the first few rounds.
