The ratings below are household ratings from the 56 television markets with local Nielsen meters for Saturday June 1 and Sunday June 2, 2013.  (The 56 markets out of 210 total cover about 70% of the US television population.)

NBA — Playoff Weekend #7

TNT Sat 8:30 pm Miami-Indianapolis 6.2 rating (no relevant comparison)

NASCAR, as usual, was very similar to last year.  IndyCar racing on ABC was up from last year, but that circuit has a long way to go to catch the guys turning left on an oval track.

NASCAR

FOX Sun 1:15 pm Dover 400 3.5 rating (-3% from 3.6 rating last year)

INDYCAR

ABC Sun 3:30 pm Duel in Detroit 0.79 rating (+20% from 0.66 rating from last year)

NHL is showing some impressive year-to-year increases in many time periods, although the ratings remain modest compared to other sports.

NHL — Playoff Weekend #5 Semifinals

NBC Sat 8:00 pm Boston-Pittsburgh 2.5 rating (+108% from New Jersey-NY Rangers 1.2 rating Mon May 14 at 8:00 pm last year)

NBC Sports Network Sat 5:00 pm NY Los Angeles-Chicago 1.4 rating (+59% from Los Angeles-Phoenix 0.88 rating on Sun May 13 at 8:00 pm)

NBC Sports Network Sun 8:00 pm Los Angeles-Chicago 1.7 rating (+118% from Los Angeles-Phoenix 0.78 rating last year on Tue May 15 at 9:00 pm)

COMBINED PLAYOFF COVERAGE (3 games) 1.87 rating (+97% from 0.95 rating last year)

MLB finally has a good week — down only 4% from the same night last year.

MLB — Regular Season Week #9

FOX Sat 7:15 pm MIA-CHW, OAK-HOU, STL-LAD, ATL-NYM or PHI-WAS 2.5 rating (-4% from 2.6 rating last year at 7:15 pm with 5 game regional)

Tiger Woods appeared in this past weekend’s tournament, but he played horribly and stayed near the bottom of the leaderboard the entire time.  That’s not going to cut it.  If he is not winning or at least in the top five, golf ratings resemble hockey ratings.

PGA — The Memorial

CBS Sat 3:00 pm Third Round 1.8 rating (-28% from 2.5 rating last year)

CBS Sun 2:30 pm Final Round 2.2 rating (-42% from 3.8 rating last year)

COMBINED WEEKEND COVERAGE 2.0 rating (-36% from 3.15 rating last year)
