THE SKED: CW Takes Care Of the Easy Part

>

CW today renewed the 3 shows on its air that were destined for renewal:  THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, the network’s closest thing to a hit; SUPERNATURAL, which has been doing very well on low-rated Fridays; and 90210, with less impressive numbers but very stable on Tuesdays.

That makes the network’s official bubble shows GOSSIP GIRL, HART OF DIXIE, RINGER, THE SECRET CIRCLE and NIKITA.  Speculation is that Gossip will last for one more faded season, possibly a shortened one.  Dixie seems to be fairly safe, holding and sometimes even beating its Gossip lead-in.  Ringer appears to be on life support.  Secret Circle had looked safe in the first part of the season, but CW will probably want to try one of its new fantasy-themed show in the prized post-Vampire slot, and based on recent low ratings, Circle seems uncertain of success without that lead-in.  Nikita doesn’t do much in the Friday numbers, but may survive because of ancillary value.
We’ll find out soon enough:  the networks begin their Upfront week on May 14.
