A deluge of holiday specials.

DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary live+same day key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).

Ratings analysis follows the chart.

ABC:  A run of SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN at 0.5 was followed by 20/20, steady at 0.4.

CBS:  FROSTY THE SNOWMAN was at 0.5 and FROSTY RETURNS was at 0.4.  A primetime CBS NEWS SUNDAY MORNING special was at 0.3.  A BLUE BLOODS rerun ended the night at 0.3.

NBC:  A run of the original HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS was at 0.7, and a new MINIONS HOLIDAY SPECIAL was also at 0.7.  DATELINE held at 0.5.

FOX:  WWE SMACKDOWN dropped 0.1 to 0.6.

CW:  A new WORLD’S FUNNIEST ANIMALS and a rerun were steady at 0.1/0.1, and GRANDMA GOT RUN OVER BY A REINDEER was at 0.2.

Tonight is another evening of COLLEGE FOOTBALL.  On Sunday, finales arrive in force, AMC’s WALKING DEAD: WORLD BEYOND, FX’s FARGO, Starz’s THE SPANISH PRINCESS, and HBO’s THE UNDOING among them. 

Note: The fast affiliate-based ratings below measure what aired on network affiliates in 210 U.S. markets from 8-11 pm Eastern & Pacific or 7-10 pm Central & Mountain. The numbers are some combination of the network schedule and any pre-emptions (such as local news or weather coverage).
