The networks found little that was tasty in their Halloween bags last night.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
NBC: GRIMM and CONSTANTINE have a Halloween excuse, because their younger demo may have been out doing other things. But a quick rebound from last night’s respective 1.1 (down 0.3) and 0.9 (down an ominous 0.5) will be essential. The night started with DATELINE up 0.2 to 1.3.
ABC: SHARK TANK was impervious to the holiday, the highest rated show of the night by far and up 0.2 to 2.0. LAST MAN STANDING was also up, by 0.1 to 1.2. But CRISTELA stayed at 1.0, which is dangerously NEIGHBORS-like territory. 20/20 wound up the night at 1.4, down 0.1 from last week.
CBS: THE AMAZING RACE, HAWAII 5-0 and BLUE BLOODS were consistently tepid at triple 1.1s. Those were respectively up 0.1, steady, and down 0.2 from last week.
FOX: UTOPIA may have wrapped up its case for cancellation by dropping 0.2 to a hair-raisng 0.5, followed by 0.3 for a GOTHAM rerun.
CW: After 0.4 for a pair of WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY reruns, AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL held at 0.3.
The networks are sports-heavy tonight, with COLLEGE FOOTBALL on ABC, CBS and FOX, and the conclusion of the BREEDERS CUP on NBC. SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE features host Chris Rock and musical guest Prince. Sunday has all the networks in standard line-up mode, with the major event on HBO, the rapturously reviewed miniseries OLIVE KITTERIDGE, which concludes on Monday night.
