Four weeks into its initial season, HOMELAND has received a 2d season order from Showtime.  Although the series’ ratings haven’t been stellar–it routinely loses at least half the audience of its Dexter lead-in–Homeland has been getting exactly the kind of buzz and critical attention that pay-TV networks crave, so this makes perfect sense.  There’s also a very good chance that Claire Danes, Damian Lewis and Mandy Patinkin, as well as the show itself, could garner some Emmy attention.

Combined with AMC’s no-eaten-brainer decision to renew its smash hit WALKING DEAD for a 3rd season, cable’s scripted Sundays are looking more stable these days than broadcast TV’s.
